How to use the matrix

Premiums answer "how much"; this grid answers "how does it behave when you claim." Three reads matter most:

  • Ortho waiting classes decide how soon knee/hip/spinal events become coverable — the spread runs from ~14 days to 12 months, and waiver paths (◐) can shorten the long ones with paperwork at enrollment.
  • Curable pre-existing pathways only matter if your pet has a resolved condition in its history — but when they matter, they are decisive. ✓ means a lookback path is published; ✗ means none is.
  • Unlimited annual options matter most for large and giant breed classes; for low-band cats, a capped limit with a low deductible often models better.

Every cell reflects typical published classes at review time — state filings differ and menus change. Policy documents govern; verify before binding.

Questions about your pet's health belong with your veterinarian. BreedCovered covers how insurers price and structure policies — nothing here is medical advice.
